An ace event! Hotel PR in star company at Scotland’s top hospitality awards
Julia and I were thrilled to be at the Scottish Excellence Awards’ presentation dinner as the organisers once more entrusted the publicity to Scotland’s most experienced hospitality promotions company.
It was another fabulous evening celebrating Scotland’s best hotels, restaurants, chefs and other key staff, and establishments excelling in caring for the environment and their employees.
These are the country’s top hospitality awards, with former world number one tennis player Andy Murray scoring a two sets victory when his hotel took double honours.
The five-star Cromlix Hotel, which he has owned with his wife Kim since 2013, took the prestigious Independent Hotel of the Year title ahead of Highland Perthshire’s Killiecrankie House.
Cromlix’s Executive Head Chef Darin Campbell was voted Chef of the Year.
The awards, presented at the Sheraton Grand Hotel and Spa in Edinburgh, are billed as ‘the ultimate accolade for businesses and individuals working in Scottish hospitality, foodservice and tourism.’
We were fortunate to have the company at our table of Tom Tsappis, his partner Matilda Ruffle and their team at Killiecrankie House. This took another of the main awards – Restaurant of the Year – ahead of Scotland’s national poet Robert Burns’s one-time favourite howff, the Globe Inn in Dumfries.
